Neighborly Actions Comin' Atcha
A celebration of the Southside, a free harvest in Elmwood, and community climate planning all over Providence.
Hi, everyone. Here are some more things to do with and for our neighbors this week and onward.
TOMORROW (Friday, September 19), 6-7:30pm, off Allens Ave (between the salt mountain and the rust heap): Providence Commemoration Lab artist Eli Nixon invites you to join Southside-dwelling kids and grownups at the water’s edge, enjoy a cool new shade structure, build a clay sparrow, eat snacks, and connect with the People’s Port Authority to further environmental justice in Providence.
Saturday, September 20, 9am until all the food is gone, 275 Elmwood Ave, Providence: The Knight Memorial Community Garden’s last free harvest is up for grabs, first come first served—get those tomatoes, because they’re closing and covering the beds on Monday to protect them from demolition debris. Please tell people you know who live in the neighborhood, or come yourself to help put the garden to bed.
Anytime this week or next (to sign up), starts in November: The Providence Resilience Partnership will pay you to plan for climate impacts with your neighbors. Held at libraries around the city, these 6-session gatherings (from November to July) . Spanish interpretation available, so tell friends who are more comfortable in that language. Use the QR code in the images below to learn more, and please share widely!
With love,
Kate
