Neighborly Actions: Corrected AND Inspected
Corrected date for the City Council meeting on police-ICE collaboration and a Nightmare on Allens Ave fundraising party.
Hi, everyone. I made a mistake about the day of the week of the City Council meeting about banning police-ICE collaboration!
THURSDAY, October 16, 5:30pm, Providence City Hall (25 Dorrance St), 3rd floor: As of right now, the next public discussion and first full council vote on the ban on police-ICE collaboration in Providence is scheduled for this day.
I’m not sure if testimony will be part of the meeting, but it’s good to prepare some in case; here’s a guide whose points are still valid.
If you can’t be present, you can also use the guide to reach out to your councilperson via phone or email (councilpeople by ward / look up your ward) this weekend or on Monday.
When the agenda is posted, it will be here, so check that link on Thursday morning to see if this discussion and vote is still happening at this time.
Friday, October 17, 6-9pm, Roger Williams Park Gateway Center (1197 Broad St, Providence): The People’s Port Authority is holding a spooooooooky fundraiser for their efforts toward a healthier Southside. They write, “Come dressed in your spookiest representation of what the Port feels like to you — the tanks, the toxins, the monsters lurking in our neighborhood. Or flip the script and arrive as your dream vision for a healthy, thriving, pollution-free Port, and help us raise funds to banish the polluters once and for all! And please come even if costumes aren’t your thing!” Kid-friendly; buy your sliding-scale tickets here.
With love
Kate
